We Have The Most Dependable Snow Conditions In Southern California!

In the past two seasons, we have invested in 40 new Wizzard Snowmaking fan guns adding to what was already one of the largest snowmaking installations in the country. This addition has increased snowmaking capacity by 50%. With a nearly inexhaustible supply of water from Big Bear Lake, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain can cover 100% of their developed runs with a fresh blanket of man-made snow – from three to five feet on many runs! This is substantially more than any other Southern California resort, as they rely on extremely limited amounts of well water and are often forced to reduce their snowmaking, thus offering fewer open runs.

Over the course of a season, Bear Mountain constructs more than 150 snow features including jumps of all shapes and sizes. In Southern California, where natural snowfall is often in short supply, it takes one of the largest snowmaking systems in the world and thousands of hours in operation to cover 198 acres with this intricate terrain park system.

Grooming

To manage the huge amounts of snow our upgraded equipment pumps out, our highly trained staff works around the clock to provide the best snow coverage and conditions possible. In fact, most of the runs at both resorts are meticulously groomed every night. Our passion for grooming goes well beyond the regular ski runs; it’s even greater for terrain park construction and maintenance. Both resorts maintain features nightly to provide the most consistent surfaces and shapes possible. Our talented park staff (over 60 strong!) makes sure you will experience the most innovative and best maintained freestyle features in the parks at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit.
